A Barry Special Christmas to all and to all a fun time!

Bring your family and friends for an afternoon of joyful entertainment

By Barry University November 20, 2019

Here comes Santa Claus, right down Barry University’s palm tree-lined lane. The school is hosting Barry Special Christmas and everyone's invited, including Old St. Nick. Rudolph and Santa’s other trusty reindeer wouldn’t miss out on this joyful holiday event on December 7th, and you shouldn't either.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Barry’s tropical Miami Shores campus, which is transforming into a magical “Holiday Village” full of delightful activities for the whole family. Silver bells will jingleandrock this at the fifth annual, free festival.

At the “North Pole Post Office,” the little ones can write their Christmas wish lists and letters to the big guy himself. When Santa Claus comes to town, delighted children can deliver the letters to Kris Kringle themselves.

“We are so excited to see this all come together and to host guests on campus for a magical experience,” said Amy Deutch, Director of Conference and Event Services. “At Barry University, we value community. That’s why we can’t wait to unveil this year’s Barry Special Christmas.” Barry is a Catholic university founded in 1940, where the staff, faculty, and students nurture and value inclusivity and diversity. Barry’s core commitments are focused on giving back to the community. That’s why Barry Special Christmas offers all of the school’s neighbors a place to come together in celebration of the season through free, enriching festivities.

At “Santa’s Workshop,” kids will be treated to age-appropriate arts and crafts activities.  A petting zoo, face painting, cookie/ornament decorating, and much more will be available. Feel free to get inspired to do some of your own caroling when local school choirs sing holiday favorites on the main stage. There will also be a DJ and games to keep the kids moving and engaged.

Stock up on gifts that will go great under the tree while supporting local businesses by purchasing items at the Holiday Marketplace, which will be filled with crafts and gifts from South Florida vendors. The food truck court will feature beloved mobile eateries set to energize the whole crew with delicious meals and treats.

South Florida may not typically have frosty Christmases, but this holiday season, Barry will be Miami’s winter wonderland, spreading happy feels and offering a comfortable space for families to make beautiful memories.

The whole community is welcome to get into the holiday spirit and enjoy timeless traditions at this festive, one-of-a kind holiday event. Rain or Shine head to Barry Special Christmas on Saturday, December 7 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm., at Barry University, Campus Mall, in front of Cor Jesu Chapel, 11300 NE 2nd Ave., Miami Shores.
