This Sunday marks the single most important annual holiday we - mothers - definitely want to celebrate: Mother’s Day!

Still need a Mother's Day present? We have got a list of gifts that you (your partner, children, grandchildren, etc) shouldn't buy and a list of local gifts designed for the procrastinator who doesn’t want to buy another boring off-the-shelf card, bunch of flowers and cupcakes:

1. DON'T  BUY HER A BOTTLE OF WINE

Do bring her to Abaco for a Wine Tasting

Got a wine-loving mom? (Really, who doesn’t?) Abaco (140 NE 39th St #206, Miami, FL 33137) is a bespoke wine shop & tasting room located on the second floor of the Palm Court in the Miami Design District. The shop also runs wine dinners and organizes wine tastings. Upcoming events include a Small Batch Tasting of BDV Wines from Sonoma on May 16th. Barowsky Disesa Vineyards is a small producer located in Sonoma Coast, California. They produce ripe, fruity rosés and rich, complex Pinot Noirs. Abaco is the only retailer in Miami to carry these beautiful wines. Let one of Abaco’s sommeliers guide you through their differences as you taste and pair with small bites. Tickets are $25 but if you spend $50 in the store the tasting is free! Buy Tickets HERE

2. DON'T  GIVE MOM A BUNCH OF FLOWERS

Do give her a fruit bouquet

The best Mother’s Day gifts are often those that mom can enjoy with her family, so this Mother’s Day, consider a delicious, share-able fruit arrangement from Edible Arrangements®. Mom is sure to enjoy a beautiful fruit arrangement featuring chocolate dipped strawberries, pineapple daisies, grapes, honeydew, and more. Not only do they look amazing, but they taste great, too. Give her an Edible® fruit flower arrangement, and she will remember it forever. It might just be the first time she’s ever received flowers that she can eat! Buy the fruit bouquet HERE

3. DON'T GO KAYAKING

Do treat her to a Pelican Harbor seabird cruise

Pelican Harbor Seabird Station (1279 79th Street Causeway, Miami, FL 33138) is a wildlife rehabilitation facility that treats native wildlife - roughly 1,500 patients a year, 112 species alone in 2018 - in the Miami area. Beyond our wildlife rehabilitation program, they organize seabird cruises in Biscayne Bay. The next one is Seabirds on the Bay: Full Moon Cruise on May 18th. Enjoy a beautiful 2-hour sunset birding cruise as we tour Biscayne Bay & scan the mangrove shoreline of the Bird Key rookery for brown pelicans, magnificent frigatebirds, and more than 30 species of birds. Take in the beauty of the Miami skyline from the water at night and this BYOB trip is always a wonderful time.  Travel aboard the “Pelican Island Skipper” in comfort and ease. Book the cruise HERE

4. DON'T  BUY HER A BEAUTY PRODUCT

Do get her an Emena Spa membership

A hidden gem that is a locals favorite, eména (4100 NE 2nd Ave #301, Miami, FL 33137) caters to every single beauty need. Need a haircut? It has a hair salon. Need a manicure? It has a nail station. 5. DON'T  MAKE MOM BREAKFAST IN BED

Do take her to a mommy and me cooking class at The Real Food Academy

Founded in 2008 by Head Chef Maria Cummins, the mission of The Real Food Academy (570-A NE 81st St, Miami, FL 33138) isn’t just to teach kids how to cook delicious meals, but also to teach them what types of ingredients to cook with. Their cooking classes - for kids and adults - are all about good times, good tastes, and good eating habits. This Mommy and Me class is among the favorites for both parents and kids. Side by side, you and your kid(s) create a delicious, healthy meal together. Remember to bring your camera to this class, because you will want to capture an experience you'll cherish forever. Book the class HERE.

6. DON'T  GET HER A MIMOSA

Do buy her a Tangerine Mimosa Sorbet at AUBI & RAMSA

AUBI & RAMSA (3516, 172 NE 41st St, Miami, FL 33137) is a Miami based brand in the business of expanding the enjoyment of wine and spirits beyond their liquid state. Their unique ice cream is made with alcoholic beverages & spirits.
