The Citadel, the all-day dining, shopping and entertainment destination in Miami's historic Little River District, is finally open. Originally built in 1951 as a First Federal Savings & Loan Bank, the building was purposefully redesigned in 2016 to preserve the original landmark's MiMo architectural style. The 62,000-square-foot, mixed-use building mindfully integrates a food hall & bar, retail shops, a rooftop bar, radio and production studios, and a music and entertainment venue. Without ever having to leave the Citadel, creative tenants, locals and visitors will discover inspiration on every floor. Notably:
- Food Hall at the Citadel – The 15,000-square-foot food hall features 15 craft food concepts from some of the city's best-known dining establishments, all showcasing their own interpretation of the culture and flavor of Miami. Options range from gourmet chocolates by world-renowned pastry Chef Antonio Bachour, to Caribbean-inspired favorites from Haitian Chef Jouvens Jean. Mexican street fare from Taquiza, modern Chinese from Palmar and one of The Citadel's two signature bars round out the full palate experience. The open dining space will seat more than 300 people.
- Vue at the Citadel – The 5,000-square-foot rooftop bar and lounge serve handcrafted and signature drinks. With expansive views of downtown Miami and the lush greenery of the surrounding neighborhoods, the rooftop space offers a blissful refuge from the daily grind with outdoor seating for more than 200 people.
- Finery at the Citadel – The 9,000-square-foot makerspace holds a variety of retail shops and artisanal vendors.
- Entercom at the Citadel – This year, the 33,000-square-foot space on the building's top floor will be the new creative regional headquarters for Entercom Communications, one of the largest radio broadcasting companies in the U.S., which operates several Miami-area radio stations, including Lite FM, the Beach, the Shark, WQAM Sports Radio, 790 the Ticket, Kiss Country, and Power 96. The space will include offices, radio production studios and meeting rooms.
In addition, The Citadel will roll-out robust community programming and partnerships designed to enhance the experience at the iconic building. Cultural events to watch for include live music, weekend workshops and pop-up makerspaces featuring local artists and creators.
"The Citadel is more than a food hall; it's a catalyst for collaboration and a space for culinary craftsmen, makers, musicians, and creative leaders" said Nick Hamann, principal of Urban Atlantic Group, owner of The Citadel. "By bridging the culinary and creative communities in an open environment, we're able to gather and inspire like-minds, while satisfying everyone's taste buds, all under one roof."
Hamann has been a driving force in the Little River neighborhood and creative community, having opened its sister co-working space, MADE at the Citadel, across the street in 2015, and bringing in several other businesses to the area including Sherwood's, Nomad Tribe, and Fire Kitchen.
