Not sure what to do with that extra Halloween candy hanging around the house? You don't have to resign yourself to overeating, let your kids gorge on sugar-filled treats, or throwing them out. There are other, creative uses for excess Halloween candy.
So if you are looking for ways to get rid of leftover Halloween candy, look no further. Here are three sweet ideas:
Donate them to Operation Gratitude - Operation Gratitude volunteers collect and donate sweet treats for U.S. Deployed Troops and First Responders. Last year they received and distributed a record-setting 533,891 pounds of candy.
Send them to Operation Shoebox: Operation Shoebox volunteers love packing boxes year-round with candy, but especially for the holidays, and send them to the members of the armed forces worldwide. Collect bags of individually wrapped candies; heat-resistant candy is best in warm seasons.
Hand them out in blessing bags to the homeless. For that person that you see every day on the street looking for your help, do something more than donating just candies. Prepare a blessing bag filled with candies and add a bottle of water, dry socks, a snack with protein as well as some toiletries.
