Spooktacular Halloween celebrations in NE Miami and Miami Beach

In our area there are so many FREE Halloween celebrations, kid-friendly costume parades and close-knit community events that choosing the best place for trick or treat can be tricky. It mostly depends on the age of the kids as well as how far and when you want to go.

To make things easier, we have complied a list of kids friendly spooky spots, lively parades and holiday-inspired events and things to do near us:

Something's Brewing After Dark @ the Miami Children Museum

Description: “A Spooky Symphony”, featuring the most beautiful scary music you’ve ever heard by The Greater Miami Youth Symphony and the Alhambra Orchestra, is a free Halloween family concert with thrilling excerpts from Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings and Scheherazade, plus fantastic orchestral blockbusters by the composer of Peter and the Wolf  and his contemporaries. Additional concert highlights include a multimedia presentation. Kids are encouraged to dress in their best Halloween costumes to enhance the supernatural experience. The program is performed by the Alhambra Orchestra and Greater Miami Youth Symphony, conducted by Huifang Chen and Zoe Zeniodi, and presented by The Children’s Trust.

Inviting all Miami Beach families to join us at this annual celebration! Entrance includes trunk or treating with over 30 cars and local businesses, an interactive DJ and dance party with glow sticks and a family friendly movie under the stars. Wristbands can be pre-purchased at Pelican Community Park or at City Hall. FREE Parking available at the NSE/SIB School Garage and in the Government Center parking garage. Avoid the driving and take the SIB Shuttle and receive an extra special treat.

Pumpkin Contest in Sunny Isles Beach

Description: Bring your decorated jack-o-lantern to our pumpkin patch and enter for your chance to win some scary fun prizes. Prizes will be awarded for Most Original, Spookiest, and Funniest pumpkins. Pumpkins can be carved or decorated. PUMPKIN CARVING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON SITE. NO CANDLES ALLOWED. Props (other than candles) are permitted. Entries must be received at the pumpkin patch by 8:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 9:30 p.m. on Friday. Pumpkins can be picked up at the end of the event. Pumpkins, along with any props, that are not claimed will be discarded at the conclusion of the weekend event (Saturday at 10:00 pm).

FREE Española Way’s First Halloween Pup Parade

Description: Miami Beach’s historic, pedestrian-only street Española Way is hosting a Halloween Pup Parade featuring a costume contest and trick-or-treating for the furry friends. You’ll encounter restaurants, art galleries, boutiques and hotels throughout this quaint village. Each merchant will have treats, no tricks, for the pooches. In addition to the Halloween activities, all the vendors will also give back a percentage of that night’s proceeds to the local animal shelters in response to Hurricane Irma. Food and dog-loving South Florida bloggers Dianne and Geoffrey of Miami Food Pug will judge the Halloween doggie costume contest. The winner of the contest will win a $75 gift card from Dishes for Dogs, a Miami-based, gourmet canine food company, to pamper their furry companion.
