3 places where kids can have fun and parents can relax

By Francesca Walker October 5, 2017

This past September has been quite a stressful month, without a shadow of a doubt. First we were trying to re-adjust to our school & work schedules, get our kids into a bedtime routine and beat their back-to-school blues. Then Irma hit Florida, forcing us to protect our properties, decide whether or not to evacuate and…hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Now that the Hurricane is gone, we deal with the damages left behind whilst we manage our professional and home responsibilities.

If you need a break from the cleaning up, the repairing and everyday’s chores, check out these places where your kids can have a fun-time and you can have some much needed “me-time”, your nails done, a coffee and much more to eventually recover from this past “Stresstempber”:

POD22

As every busy parent knows, it’s tough (if not impossible) to entertain yourself and your kids simultaneously. But POD 22, a new urban break room, solves this problem by offering Miami’s first recreational mash-up: kid’s playground meets adult lounge. Here, kids have custom-designed play areas while parents can enjoy lounging with wi-fi and nail treatments. The open floor plan allows parents to relax with wi-fi, healthy treats, and a luxurious micro nail salon while their kids run, jump, play and socialize with the option of Supervised Play.

POD 22 is open Tuesday- Friday from 10 am to 7 pm; Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and, Sunday noon to 6 PM.

POD 22 is located at 8101 Biscayne Blvd. Suite, 102, Miami, Florida 33138.

Cream Parlor

This retro eatery is a homey place that serves - in beautiful china and teacups with proper silverware - delectable ice cream and frozen desserts, healthy salads, wraps and sandwiches as well as sumptuous cheese, charcuterie platters, and more. Cream Parlor is known for its amazing ice cream creations, such as “Unicorn Poop” (the name says it all for the kids!) and "Purple Rain" (a favorite among the parents, too), with many cereals and candy toppings to please any child, or to bring out parents' own inner child. Whilst parents relax and enjoy smooth coffee and teas and delicious food inside or in the cozy patio in the back, kids can be play with some toys, books, games, and comics placed throughout the shop.

Cream Parlor is open Tuesday- Sunday from 9 am to 8.30 pm; Monday from 9 am to 7.30 pm.

Cream Parlor is located at 8224 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida, 33138.
