I am so excited to introduce myself to you. My name is Francesca, your new North East Miami and Miami Beach Macaroni Kid Publisher! I’ve always been “that mom” who scours the web and newspapers to find all the cool things to do with my kids. Now I get to put all that work to good use and can bring you the 411 on all things kid and family friendly here in NorthEast Miami and Miami Beach! I couldn’t be more excited!
Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a thirty-something mum of a four-year old girl and a nearly two-year old boy, a grateful wife, daughter and sister, a full time worker…but most importantly…I am my household CEO, the non-TV activity Coordinator and an Archaeologist specializing in inside the closet digs. Switch around the order depending on the day.
Born and raised in Italy but of German descent and married to an Englishman, in my pre-baby life I lived in Spain and the UK, moved house 14 times, travelled up and down Europe, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, North America and Canada. I used to get up in the morning at exactly the time I wanted to, I never had Goldfish in the house (or in the car!) and I did laundry only once a week. (Does this last bit sound familiar to you?)
To prepare mentally and emotionally for motherhood, I read baby books, attended parenting classes, interviewed my family and friends with kids. No one ever said that I would suck boogers out of my kids’ nose, that a salon pedicure would feel like a tropical vacation, that I would be able to function and actually take care of another human being on no sleep and that I would have to hide sweets like they’re a contraband substance. (Does this sound familiar too?)
In my tenure thus far as a mother, I developed ninja warrior-like moves to wrestle my children into their car seats, I became a rocket scientist to open (and close) the freaking stroller and I gained super speedy reflexes necessary to keep my children still when changing over 8,000 diapers. I want a medal.
Our family moved to Miami in August 2016. Whilst my husband and I were trying to settle down and adapt to the new surroundings, we wanted to keep our kids entertained. I soon found out that here there are many things to do with children but there was not a single place where I could learn about all the family-friendly things happening in my area. It was all spread out. For this reason I decided to start Macaroni Kid North East Miami and Miami Beach.
I look forward to seeing you around town and meeting Macaroni Kid families at great events in our community. I’ll be the one wearing a Macaroni Kid t-shirt so be sure to say hello when you see me.
